Brass / Woodwinds - Melodie Peet
Concerto for Alto Saxophone Op. 26 / Paul Creston
Melodie is an enthusiastic young musician who has performed and taught in Alberta and British Columbia. She studies saxophone performance at the University of Alberta where she plays with the University’s Undergraduate Saxophone Quartet and the Symphonic Wind Ensemble. Melodie is employed by the Canadian Armed Forces as a musician, currently playing with the Loyal Edmonton Regiment Band. This September she plans to pursue a Master’s Degree. In November 2021 Melodie won the Department of Music Concerto Competition. Melodie has studied under the tutelage of Dr. Allison Balcetis and Dr. Charles Stolte.

1. Allegro maestoso
Elina was born in 2007 and has been playing the violin for 10 years. She participates in the local music festival regularly and has received numerous scholarships. She also received 2nd place at the Canadian Music Competition National Finals in 2019. Elina was part of the Young Artist Program in Ottawa and the Sounding Point Academy program in Los Angeles, as well as the Valhalla Summer Music program in B.C. She has been the concertmaster of the Edmonton Intermediate Youth Orchestra and a student at the Mount Royal University Music Academy in Calgary for the last three years. She has had masterclasses and lessons with world renowned violinists such as Pinchas Zukerman, Jessica Linnebach, Ivan Zenaty, Gerardo Ribeiro, Tong Wei Dong, Ian Swesen, Martin Beaver and Axel Strauss. Elina enjoys chamber music and was one of 40 young musicians across Canada who made a chamber recording aired on CBC NEWS in 2020 which inspired many others. Currently, Elina studies violin with Robert Uchida. Besides music, Elina enjoys horseback riding, badminton, figure skating, and art.

Sointu Aalto is a cellist, composer, and high school student currently based in Treaty 6 territory, who is interested in the connections between mathematics, science, art, and philosophy. Their original music has been presented by MATA Jr Festival/Bergamot Quartet, New Music Edmonton, Continuum Contemporary Music, Alkali Collective, and others. She plays cello with the Jams Quartet, River City Chamber Orchestra, Edmonton Youth Orchestra.
Anna Yin - Scottish Fantasy, Op. 46

Anna Yin is fourteen years old and attends Grandview Heights School in Edmonton. At age five, she began studying piano with her mother and at age six, began her violin studies with James Keene. Anna recently received the National Gold medal for her 2020 Level 10 RCM exam. She was award-ed first place in the Alberta Strings Association 2021 Music Festival and has been presented numerous awards and scholarships from the Edmonton Music and Speech Arts Festival, Fall Music Festival, and the Alexandra M. Munn Scholarship Awards. Anna has been a proud first violinist of the MacEwan Conservatory String Orchestra for five years. She has also performed violin with the Freema-son's society fundraiser at Freemasons Hall and volunteered for a fundraising event at St. George’s Church. For the past few years, she has been volunteering at Canterbury Court Senior Residence with her brother by holding concerts together. Anna also finds enjoyment in sculpting and playing French horn in her free time.
